Nell Whatmore started working as a professional artist in 1986. She’s a fine artist, known for her landscapes, floral paintings and abstracts. Her paintings are both evocative and expressionist. As a contemporary colorist, she’s a regular exhibitor at Chelsea Flower Show. Her arts as attracted a large number of viewers. Her stand has won multiple awards among them a Five Star Award. Her work can be seen in many private and public collections and in many forms all over the world. Nell has a loyal following of funs and many private collectors have also become her friends. She met her husband Mark Morris, the writer, while at University. They have two children and live in North Yorks. Her first son, Polly is studying Fine Art at Edinburgh while the second son, David, is a Physicist. The artist was invited to a special reception to Clarence House with HRH the Prince of Wales.
Here, Nell presented his Royal Highness with one of her stunning original paintings. This was part of the 35th Year Celebrations of the Trust. Nell seeks to continually explore mediums and their ability to convey what she wants. All her collections are inspired either from natural forms or by her fine art paintings. They have a painterly, hand made feel and are always in color palettes that are uplifting. The artist likes paintings so much and is also excited to be designing fabric and learning more about the new world of surface pattern. She says art is a big challenge, but if her work raises a smile, moves people, or lightens their heart, then that makes art all worthwhile.
