Greg Perkins now resides in Atlanta. He finds much of his inspiration while on art retreats to Florida and New Mexico. He’s pleased with her current work, but he’s always searching, both within and outwardly, to see where this journey is going to take him. Perkins grew up in Bloomington, MN, and at a young age, he was fascinated with architecture; he could spend several hours drawing floor plans and houses. That transitioned into an interest in art and a full time career. Perkins studied at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, and while there, he developed an appreciation for abstract art. However, he found it challenging to break away from the structure and regiment of the drafting style in his own early works.
Perkins has been able to develop a unique technique of producing his artwork. Today, his art adorns the walls of many prestigious homes, galleries, and institutions around the world. He invites critics to review his works as he believes that learning is a continuous process and that this is the best way to improve his art. After experimenting with different mediums, he has landed on paper collage as his mainstay. This is because this medium enables him to achieve most of what he sets out to do. Much of Perkins’ art is still highly precise, and he has also found a way of creating abstract pieces using the same technique. He says that for many artists, abstraction is spontaneous, but his is thoroughly planned before being executed.
