Tina Carlson Wall Art

Tina Carlson is a professional photographer and writer. She lives and works in Thousand Oaks, California out of her studio in Camarillo. She worked as a photojournalist and journalist for several magazines and newspapers. Nikon F2 was Tina’s first camera and she continues to use Nikon digital SLR cameras to date. Tina was an avid white water kayaker, cross country skier, SCUBA diver, angler and cyclist, but after a serious neck injury she turned to photography as art and has made it her primary path. One of her best places to photograph is the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary where she captures the mood, light and feel of this challenging environment by creating abstract depictions of the cliffs and beaches of Santa Rosa Island, Santa Cruz and Anacapa. In addition Tina photographs Grey Whales and Humpback for use in educational materials and brochures for the sanctuary's outreach programs.

She also photographs picnic tables and they have become one of her favorite subjects. Tin was inspired by the forgotten businesses and abandoned homesteads lining rural highways on her recent cross country trip to Texas and Mexico. In her trip to the South, she saw the coastal structures of hurricane devastated harbors and beaches, and the vivid silhouettes in the wrecked docks. All these have some influence in her work. Her work hangs at the Island Packers Gallery in Ventura Harbor, in businesses in Ventura County, and in the Studio Gallery at Fisherman's Wharf in Channel Islands. She is the recipient of several regional photography awards and a National Wildlife Photography Award.
