As a young girl in her native Russia, Katia Hoffman grew up surrounded by hundreds of years of architecture and art that defined the modern city of Moscow. Opulence, ornate scrollwork and the rich colors influenced her visual language - this was a city that inspired her at an early age. In 1989, Katia, her husband and her young son moved to New York City where she started working in the Garment District as a textile designer. She made a career creating hand-painted designs and then digital designs for quilting and apparel companies. She says it was her good fortune to work with some of the most inspiring companies in the textile industry and she learned her craft very well. Come 2012, Katia decided to take the plunge and branched out on her own with the encouragement and support of her husband and sons.
She wanted to create her own collections of quilting fabrics so she partnered with EBI Fabrics, a California-based company, and she created their very first quilting fabric division. It was a new endeavor for EBI, but they believed in her talent, vision and experience to support the new endeavor. Katia has hands on approach so every color chosen and placed, every line drawn, have all been given careful attention by her. From the initial concepts to the final product, she touches every part to ensure that the highest quality finished product and design are brought to the customer. She hopes the viewers will enjoy looking at her designs and feel the same joy she felt while producing them.
