Casey McKee (Born 1976) was born in Phoenix, Arizona. His process is a combination of painting and photography. He now works and lives in Berlin. He first creates the photographs, them prints them onto surfaces by use of a process known as photographic emulsion. Most of his time is spent working with oil paint to bring out the desired expression in his works. He has exhibited his work throughout much of the US including: Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and New York, as well as across the Atlantic in Berlin, Frankfurt Hamburg and London. Further, his work is collected and has been exhibited by several private and major museums. His work has been represented by Helium Cowboy Artspace since 2005. In 2010, he participated at the Fountainhead residency programme in Miami. McKee says that to experience the works personally is to realize the subtlety, layers and depth created with photographic emulsion with the fusion of oil paint.
He adds that the final work is neither a painting, nor a photograph, but something in between and with the qualities of both. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Ömer Koç Collection, Istanbul; The National Arts Club in New York; the SØR Rusche Oelde/Berlin Collection in Berlin; the Phynque Phamily Phoundation museum Minneapolis; The Tucson Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson; The Phoenix Art Museum Phoenix, Arizona; and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Scottsdale, Arizona. He prints on wood panel, canvas or handmade paper. His art has appeared in many leading publications.
