Friedrich Specht Wall Art

Friedrich Specht (Born on 6th May, 1839) was born in Lauffen. He was a German painter and natural history illustrator. He died on 12th June, 1909 in Stuttgart. His first exhibition was held at the Stuttgart Art Academy and it was a great success. He provided illustrations of landscapes and animals for a large number of veterinary and zoology science publications. He’s much noted for the first edition of Brehms Tierleben which was conceived by Edmund Alfred Brehm, Karl Christoph Vogt's The mammals in word and picture, Efron and Brockhaus Encyclopedic Dictionary, and Royal Natural History by Richard Lydekker. His brothers were Carl Gottlob Specht, the wood engraver and August Specht, the wildlife painter. He was responsible for the lion's head on memorial of Adolf Gnauth to the fallen warriors of Stuttgart.

His art is very popular because he was very keen to detail. Tiny details of his subjects can be seen in his paintings. His keenness to detail earned him admiration among his peers and clients. That notwithstanding, Specht was very much open o learn from his fellow artists; that explains why he liked to visit galleries so as to view the works of other artists. He also took part in many art exhibitions after the successful exhibition at Stuttgart Art Academy. These exhibitions helped to popularize his art. His art is much sought after and they are highly priced by many discriminating collectors. They are stocked in large numbers in art stores because they demand is very high.
