Amy Vangsgard Wall Art

Amy Vangsgard’s monoprints combine a texture and the spontaneity of loose painting that is unlike any other art. She creates monoprints by pouring paint on an acrylic or acrylic glass (plexiglass) after which she places a sheet of paper on top of the painting. She then runs the sheet of paper and the plexiglass through a press. She’s now on a creative journey to explore the never-ending possibilities of combining monoprints with various media. Through her art, she hopes to communicate the amazing feelings she has when she views the world of color around us. All of her life she has loved color. She’s fascinated by the way light shines on plants from behind with glowing colors. She’s also fascinated by the way color changes when one color is put next to another color, and the way color can take on a mood of the subject and affect the way we feel.

She’d like to share the great joy that color brings into her life with those who view her artwork by creating a new way of experiencing color. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California and graduated in 1985 with honors from Art Center College of Design. For more than 3 decades, she has been a successful award-winning freelance illustrator. She’s also taught illustration, design and color theory at Otis College of Art and Design. The artist uses both digital painting and digital photography techniques to create exciting new imagery. Her specialties include Art Direction, Fine Art, Licensing Art for accessories and home decor, corporations, department stores, among others.
