John Ketley was born in England where he was also educated and trained as a fine art artist. He trained at the London College of Art. Having seen fellow artists struggle, he never wanted to take that route, so he chose instead to become an illustrator in the publishing and advertising world where he has been working so hard. Here he became well known for creating numerous internationally known images for a variety of global clients. Many of his paintings are inspired by his own childhood. Ketley went on to become Creative Director of three advertising agencies bearing his name. His work won many international awards during this time, including a gold award at D.A.D.A. in New York and a Gold Lion at Venice.
In 1996 Ketley made his way to the United States and traveled through twenty different states by way of RV, before he settled in Florida Keys in the serene landscape. It is here that Ketley bought a flats boat and a home, and spent the next ten years fly fishing for bonefish and sailfish; and of course, painting. His passion for painting made him to believe that every image had a message that it delivered to the viewer and had the potential to tell a story. In 2008, he entered the United States art market where his oil paintings have been shown in a number of galleries along the eastern seaboard. And today, in some instances, his original works are available for purchase. His current work is available as paper and gicleé prints.
