Everett Spruill Wall Art

Everett Spruill (Born in 1954) was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a degree in Business Management from Berea College, Kentucky. In his youth, he spent many afternoons at the Birmingham Museum of Art studying and admiring the works of art in the museum. His early exposure to classical music and the museum later proved to have a great influence on his development artistically. His mother worked at the Lounge of A.G. Gastons in the afternoon, and he’d wait for her at the Museum until she got off. This place was his refuge and it fueled his passion for art. He really enjoys working with his hands, and wood working and drawing projects were part of their industrial education in the 1960s.

Spruill also had a passion for music so his mother insisted on him having voice and piano lessons. For over 3 decades, this self-taught artist has involved himself in collecting and creating works of art. Through his non-profit foundation, he also conducts art workshops for Central Florida youth, and is former owner of The Ethnic Art Gallery, Orlando. Spruill advocates the role of art in enriching people’s lives and he firmly believes that arts help all people to become constructive and well-rounded individuals. Spruill began his career as a full time professional artist in 1989 after working as a hotel manager. Spruill is most known for his early works on paper and collages, more so, the Blues Series' and 'Old School Jazz’, which feature colorful images of the legends and fathers of American art form which is known as Jazz.
