Evelyn Jenkins-drew Wall Art

Evelyn Jenkins Drew studied at San Jose State University in California, where she received a bachelors' degree in art in 1980. She’s a 5th generation California artist known for painting colorful and bright "beachy" scenes with palms, banana trees and turquoise water that evoke the warmth of the tropical breezes of California, the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii. Evelyn’s art is about good times in pleasurable places sometimes with aged cars such as Volkswagen buses and beautiful woodies. In 2011 the artist had an exhibit in Oxnard, CA at the Murphy Auto Museum. She licenses art for cards, posters, wine labels, and metal signs, etc. Evelyn’s art has been chosen for Splash 10: The Best of Watercolor, the North Light Book. Her work has been collected internationally including Canada, England, South Africa, the Caribbean Islands, Trinidad and Mexico and she’s a long time participant in the Open Studio Art Tour of the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County. Evelyn has won many competitions for festival posters in the Santa Cruz area.

For many years, Evelyn and her husband have lived in the beach culture and the sailing, surfing area of Santa Cruz, California. Each winter, they now spend 4 months traveling on their sailboat in the Caribbean where the artist paints while her husband is busy with his boat projects. And during the fall and summer Evelyn exhibits in juried art festivals in California. Her goal is to paint the beauty around her and make it glow from within the luminescence of silk. On a 2D surface, she sculpt the subject with color and shadows that seem to magically impart life and volume.
